Stanford goes to San Jose for their first true road game of the season (the two Acrisure games were neutral court games).  Stanford is favored by 8.5, with an over/under of 147.5 - implied score is 78-69.5.  The Spartans are 5-5, with all of their results lining up with expectations - no particularly good wins nor unexpected losses..  In the Mountain West pre-season poll, they were picked to finish 10th of 12.  This is a game where Stanford needs to shake off any finals week rust quickly and get a solid bounce-back win after the disappointing UNLV loss.

Expected starters for San Jose are:
#0 Colby Garland (6'0/190 Jr G)  Leads the Spartans with 18.8 ppg and 4.1 apg (and also with 2.6 turnovers/game);
#32 Yaphet Moundi (6'8/237 Sr F)  From France, leads with 8.5 rpg and chips in 12.3 ppg;
#13 Jermaine Washington (6'1/180 So G) 12.2 ppg, including a team-leading 2.4 3s/game, shooting 41% on 3s;
#99 Sadraque Nganga (6'8/260 RJr F) From Angola;
#4 Melvin Bell Jr. (6'4/ 195 Fr G)  

Injuries to some key players, including Ja Vaughn Hannah, Marcus Overstreet, Christian Wise, and Ben Roseborough have left the Spartans with a short bench in the last couple games.

Hopefully Stanford can take advantage of better depth & size (& athleticism??) to make this a routine win.  And I'm going to continue to channel my inner Christopher Walken with the demand: "I gotta have more Giltay!"
