If the metric is “defines America” or “says something about the times”, I can’t see how the WSJ list would omit Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
I would also offer a couple of alternatives for Mick’s very nice list —
“For What it’s Worth” by Stephen Stills/Buffalo Springfield - suddenly so relevant again
“Teach Your Children” -Graham Nash/CSN, offers some hope in this divided society.
“Get Together” (Dino Valenti/Youngbloods) - we need less hate and fear these days
If you haven’t heard these tunes in 50 years, spend 10 minutes and listen carefully to them now. It’ll be worth it.
