Looking good for what ?  Lower level athletes ?

Less travel.  Less of an impact on academics. Ability to develop geographic rivalries. Yeah, it sucks that there is no conference that is a) west coast based, b) has high level athletics and c) has a large share of AAU institutions so we kind of have to pick what we prioritize.  Given the direction of travel, where you have to assume even the ACC’s days are numbered and the realization that we probably are not attractive enough to be one of the “haves” in the next round of reorganization when it will be the BigTen and SEC power conferences, maybe its better to start the transition process to less of an emphasis on big time athletics now rather than to string this along as long as we can.

This sounds right to me. I think all the middies are interested in less travel, for a variety of reasons. And it makes some sense. SCU used to play UCSB all the time, 27 times between 1964 and 2012, and they played Denver a handful of times over the years. Never played UC-San Diego, though USD is in-league and they've played San Diego State.

Gonzaga, Washington State and Oregon State are leaving for the new Pac-12. Good for them, I hope it works out.
