A couple new ones I’ve been listening to lately, with new albums:
Angine de Poitrine with their imaginatively titled sophomore effort (Vol. II, and yes, their debut album was Vol. I). They are described thusly: “Anonymous duo Angine de Poitrine make high-intensity math rock that employs microtonal composition, complex live looping, unusual time signatures, and many other unorthodox approaches to performance that make them one of the more fascinating bands of their kind. The group's unique sound and spectacular stage show brought them a near-viral level of interest, and their explosive sound was captured on their first recordings, 2024's Vol. 1 and 2026's Vol. II.”

The Brooklyn band Geese: “Geese are a nervy post-punk outfit from Brooklyn. They made an improbable rise from local high school rockers to internationally supported buzz band in just a few short years on the strength of home-recorded singles that suddenly attracted a slew of high-profile record labels. The group ultimately signed a joint U.K./U.S. deal with PIAS and Partisan, which led to the release of their eclectic 2021 debut album, Projector. To even stranger effect, the band's sophomore LP, 2023's 3D Country, injected their skewed post-punk with doses of '70s classic rock. Geese continued to merge seemingly divergent influences into post-punk on their Kenny Beats-produced third full-length, 2025's Getting Killed.”
