What a surprise, a judge in Lubbock granted an injunction to allow Texas Tech's $5M NIL QB Brendan Sorsby to play in the upcoming season. The NCAA had banned Sorsby for life for placing thousands of bets on college football, including his own team (Indiana at the time). The judge ruled that the ban would cause irreparable harm to Sorsby if he wasn't allowed to train and play.

College football is dead.

One correction.  The judge assigned the case in Lubbock recused himself and the case was transferred to Fort Worth.  The judge there has no connection to Tx. Tech. 

Having said that, the decision was ridiculous.  If you gamble on the sport you play, you should be barred for life.  No excuses, no exceptions.  The message this decision sends is that it is ok to bet on your sport’s games because if you can’t, it would hurt your feelings.  

I’ll skip the “old man” rant about taking responsibility for your actions until another day….

FWIW, the article and other sources point to a Judge Ken Curry of the 99th Judicial Circuit in Lubbock County, Texas. . . .

Just disgusting. . . .

Clarification: Ken Curry is a retired Tarrant County (Fort Worth) judge.  He was hearing the case in Lubbock because that was where the case was filed.  No judge sitting in the 99th Circuit opted to oversee the case.  Therefore, a retired judge from another part of the state had to be brought in. Apologies for the error in my original post.
