https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/4907...ntal-draftQuote:In a statement Monday, Cody Campbell, chairman of the Texas Tech Board of Regents, said Texas Tech will not "seek the return" of any money paid to Sorsby through his NIL agreements with the university. The fact that Texas Tech will nor "seek return" of NIL paid to Sorsby arguably does indicate integrity. They knew about this issue at least in part and recruited him anyway. Having it blow up in their face isn't Sorsby's fault. Texas Tech took a chance that didn't work out.
Campbell also noted, "The bottom line is that Texas Tech did absolutely nothing but act with complete integrity through this entire process."
However, IMO Texas Tech acted with no integrity at all when they chose to litigate Sorsby's lifetime ban. Texas Tech is well aware that it is subject to NCAA regulation. They are also well aware they are part of the Big-12. In both cases they have agreed to follow "the rules". Clearly the NCAA action was warranted and was totally in line with "the rules". Attempting to wiggle out of a commitment to a particular code of conduct you have agreed to uphold just because it is harmful to your ability to win football games demonstrated Texas Tech has no "integrity" whatsoever. It is perfectly clear the intention was to ride out whatever backlash this breach of integrity would engender. Only when Texas Tech decided it was not feasible did they change course. I don't know if Sorsby chose to enter the supplemental NFL draft of his own accord, or if he was "strongly advised" by Texas Tech to do so when it became clear there were going to be headwinds to his remaining at Texas Tech that Texas Tech either could not (or feared they could not) overcome. In either case, Texas Tech behaved without integrity.
cynical me asks how much NIL money was from TT vs from some other entity which may or may not want their money back.....
