The trajectory is not just unsustainable for Stanford; it is unsustainable for a number of other schools. There is a waiting game going on, where schools are trying to keep their heads above water, while the new normal sorts out. Will there still be 4 Power conferences or will there be 1 or 2? Will the rules on 3rd party payments be enforced or will the top schools set new rules?
In 3-5 years, there will be new legislation, new TV deals, and new sorting.
