Yvonne,
If this is a subtle reference to Barry Sanders, it doesn't apply.Â
Neither of Joe Montana's sons were particularly impressive in High School, so it is no surprise they didn't make much of a splash in college. Barry J. Sanders OTOH, was electric in High School. He was the #9 rated RB in his class. Stanford and Alabama both wanted him, in addition to his pop's alma mater, and numerous others.Â
Barry Sanders is the most talented RB Stanford has on its roster, but Stanford asks its RBs to do a lot more than simply run with the football, so he has to do more things now than he did as a High School RB, where he made his mark. If he can get them down, he'll play and be one of the best RBs Stanford has ever had. But there is no guarantee he will become a great pass blocker and blitz picker upper or that he will be able to take that next step to become a fixture for Stanford for a few seasons.
The Montana kids weren't even that good before they were asked to step up to another level.
