Speaking of Walsh, I believe he once made the comment that a quality coenerback with the grades to get into Stanford comes along about once every ten years. Looks like that may have changed.

Corner has become a more glamorous position.  My understanding is that it's the 4th highest paid position in the NFL nowadays.  So maybe the pool has become larger ie more kids that would have played RB or WR, now play CB also or bypass the touchdown glory positions altogether.
