The comment above about "undiscovered Van Morrison" made me think of a few years back and the Chi-Lites "Have You Seen Her" started playing in some store I was browsing, and I suddenly realized that there were tons of songs that I would never hear ever again.  Ever!

So whenever I discover something I have never heard by an artist I like, it's always wonderful.

Been wearing out Gregg Allman's Laid Back album, which I just discovered a few months ago.  I was a little after the Allman Bros and the deaths of Barry Oakley and Duane, but I have to say there have ended up my favorite band.

This is just beautiful stuff.

I would love to have seen how things worked out if Dickey Bett's countrified softness could have played against Duane's guitar for a decade or so longer.  Although someone else would have likely died.

Dickey Bett's Highway Call has been another recent discovery.

Takes about four minutes to get going...

Youtube is a joy.  Duane at Muscle Shoals with Wilson Pickett:

Derek Trucks drove me back to the Allman's.  At the end of his show here in Dallas a few months back, he threw his slide out into the audience, and I nabbed it.  When I showed it to my wife after the show (she is not into Tedeshi Trucks???) she asked "what's with the shot glass?

I told you all that story already, didn't I?

Anyway, I think I want to die right when his solo begins on this song (3:57):
