I am a bit unclear what "the dream" really is. Is it playing in the National Championship? The Rose Bowl consecutive years? Or just another 11+ win season in 2014.
The reality is that we have raised the bar because the program has raised the bar. Never have the Cardinal been to 4 straight, soon to be five, bowl games in a row. The Cardinal may catch lightning in a bottle one of these years and play for the NC, but to sustain a year in and year out Alabamian level of excellence is probably unlikely due to reasons Stanford fans are well aware of.
As a fan, I am thrilled that the team can now beat any team in the conference any game of any year. As long as Shaw still has his hands on the wheel, I believe this program will maintain the present course and heading with little if any drop off. If you are looking for a parallel, Boise State and Chris Petersen are a perfect example.Â
Consistent, competitive and at times, dominant. This is the new paradigm for the Cardinal.
