Sophomore year (1991), we decided to throw what might have been the world's first 80s party except we called it early 80s because the late 80s felt to contemporaneous.  Wore pastel polos with the collars turned up, etc.  Might have been the party that Glynn Milburn showed up at with his electrifying dancing. 

Anyhow, we got bored of Duran Duran for the 2nd time in our lives, so we decided to get into disco.  One night we got hammered and decided to throw an impromptu disco party in the dorm hallway.  One of our group decided it was too bright in the hallways. After not being able to find a light switch for the hallway, he went to shut the power off in the dorm.  Some dormmates working on papers weren't too happy about that.

I wonder. Do the kids throw 90s parties or 00s parties?

According to my son (currently a college senior), they throw '80s parties.  Seriously.
