I spent a lot of 67 and 68 at the Fillmore and Winterland and wangled a weekend pass to Woodstock while on active duty in the US Army in DC.  Saw the Who many times in the 69-71 period, but with the emergence of Disco, all had changed, changed utterly, and this time it was a terribly ugliness which had been born........

Wow so cool!  Love The Who.  Saw them in Cleveland on their first reunion tour.  Best rhythm section in the pre-punk era (JoyDivision/NewOrder has the best post-punk).  If I had to put together a super band, it would be Freddie Mercury on vocals, Jimmy Page on lead guitar, Keith Moon on drums, and John Entwhistle on bass. Though I would be tempted to take Macca for his songwriting.  And as much as I hate him as a person, I'd have Phil Spector produce them, even at the risk of an accidental fire arms discharge when he tries his patented pull a gun out in the studio move.
