So timely to hear the references to the black holes of the 70’s because I was making a playlist for a favorite woman yesterday.  Because she attended high school in the early 70’s, I tried to find a good song from each of her four years.  Nothing. 

It is hard to find high quality obscure material during this era.  The post-punk/early alternative music hasn't come on the scene yet.  One of the best songs from that rock branch, "Step On" by the Happy Mondays is actually a cover of an early 70s song by a South African artist named John Kongos.  For the longest time, I thought Step On was a Happy Mondays' original.  The real original is pretty cool.
