I was objecting to this quote, " I just can't imagine he would get any significant amount of play time at Stanford if we were not even offering a scholarship," which clearly suffered from lack of imagination.  I have no comment on whether he would be better off at Stanford than at Penn, but we have had a fair number of "preferred walk-ons" not only see the field of play, but get offered scholarships.
