In my lifetime, the Monty era constituted the glory days. Not the perfect days, but glory days nonetheless. For every anguishing event like the game on March 20, 2004 (the only time I've had a sports-induced migraine on my birthday), there were more many more moments like Robinson's/Lottich's miracle shots versus UA/WSU, beating Duke, beating Kansas, making the Final Four, and so on.
I also believe that the Harbaugh/Shaw era constitutes the glory days for Stanford football in my lifetime. As with the Monty era, I hope that I enjoy the ride much more often than I curse the potholes.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
