I'd love to see an academic paper on people who have natural proclivities; some people are accident-prone, some people like Publius have weird things happen to them. My oldest son is the luckiest person I've ever met; when he needs something somewhat or highly improbable it happens. And I can't explain it. No idea how or why it happens. He's the guy who gets the parking space right in front of the venue where even overflow parking is jammed; the guy who gets tickets that no one else can, the guy who gets a job at a firm that has had a hiring freeze for a year.
I don't get it, I really don't. I'd love to know the scientific explanation behind those things, hoping of course that it is something other than a normal bell curve distribution of people and realizing that it probably isn't
