[Renaissance Man]

I arrived very late for the long movie thread.  Reading all the praise for The Edge of Tomorrow makes me want to mention that this is one of the rare times that I enjoyed the movie more than the book (Hiroshi Sakurazaka's All You Need Is Kill was a fun read, but I liked Edge much more than the novel).
I can think of two or three more examples (out of hundreds of adaptations that I could compare).  Anybody else with an example that comes to mind?
