This year, Stanford is averaging 5.75 penalties per game, Notre Dame is at 5.00 (same as SJSU). UDFG is averaging 38.25 yards penalties per game, Stanford Scofflaws are at 55.75 yards per game of penalties.
Last year's stats are interesting: Notre Dame was called for more penalties than its opponent when they play at home in every game except the Pitt game.. On the road, their opponents have been called for more penalties, and ND has been called for very few. Notre Dame averaged 7 penalties per game at home (their opponents averaged 5.7), but just 2.8 penalties per game on the road where their opponents averaged 4.4. On a neutral site (against Arizona State and Rutgers), they averaged 7.5 penalties while their opponents averaged jut 3.5.
Sounds like a home game disadvantage, which is fine by me.
