Who knows, he could be the next BBK, although Petersen apparently doesn't think so since he hasn't offered.
I hope Shaw has gone up to see him play, I mean it's only a 13 hour drive.

:)

looks good in the Wild Fowler formation.  that might be enticing to draw the head ball coach out of Atherton.  probably need a Net Jet though

Actually it would be pretty funny if he did turn out to be the next BBK. There could be a similar thread on the Husky fan board complaining that Petersen had failed to make the short drive across the bridge on Lake Washington to see him play. (Actually he wouldn't have even have had to do that as he played a game at Memorial Stadium in Seattle which is within walking distance (a slight exaggeration here) from the UW campus).

On Fowler, gotta say pretty incredible that Stanford can get a walk-on with 8 FBS offers, including one from a Pac-12 school. I would also add that Stanford SHOULD have a pretty powerful walk-on program. I mean guys who aren't projecting to be NFL players out of high school, who want a good education, should seem to comprise a large pool of possible walk-on players at Stanford.

Right now 247 shows 16 commits. So we should expect 21 commits in the class, 21 signings in two weeks, most in two weeks and a few to sign in February?

As a rule it sure seems more and more guys are wanting to sign early, and de-facto football NSD is effectively in December.

OF, we do! There just hasn’t been a Ben Gardner since, well, Ben Gardner.

Recent walk-ons rated 2 or 3* by 247sports composite with G5 or better offers include TaeVeon Le, Nicholas Sligh, Matthew Gutwald, Kyle McCombs, Anthony Trinh, Caleb Phillips, and Dylan Boles. There are 1-2 pretty much every year.

I'm sensing Cornelius Johnson is going to Notre Dame and this class is closing with a mighty whimper.

Any special reason why?

Sadly it’s a fact johnson isn’t coming to Stanford. Fact for awhile

Losing the stealth OT really really hurts

21 possible but ....

I think that would be fine since we are stacked at the WR position. I think there are other positions we should probably be focusing on.

Now Elijah Higgins, the #15-ranked WR is a must get, but 247 is all over him to Stanford.

Any guesses as to the final 5? I'm confident about two, but not anyone else.

- WR Higgins
- OLB DiCosmo

I've never seen any sign Sanguinetti has visited Stanford or has any intention to visit.

It never ceases to amaze me how these recruiting reporters don't ask these recruits if they have or intend to fill out Stanford applications and take AP classes their Senior year, to validate Stanford is a real option for them.

Unfortunately correct.

In general, national recruiting reporters don't care because Stanford is the ONLY school that gives a crap about the application and AP courses. Their customer base is a legion of 40-year-old Walmart state school fans who have nothing better to do with their lives than threaten 16 year olds on Twitter for choosing the school that's right for them.

Stanford-specific reporters, Jacob Rayburn and RJ Abeytia, do ask these questions - but they are behind paywalls :)

Speaking of Cornelius Johnson... on Monday he tweeted his top 5:
Alabama
Notre Dame
Michigan
Penn State
Stanford

Announcement on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at his high school in CT. I take it as a a compliment that he would keep us in his top 5, even though he won't be coming to Stanford.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

Interesting that two of these did not make it through their first year on the team.

We're gonna need Tae Le next year.

I'm disappointed that we seem to have lost Trent McDuffie, who is a Bellflower kid.

The worst kept secret of the class was DiCosmo. Stanford sure is stockpiling OLBs.

So once again, the Final 5:

- OLB DiCosmo
- WR Higgins
