I have now finally had my first proven case. I've had other presumed cases prior to the widespread testing we are doing now.
This case is a toddler. Dad got tested due to exposure at work. On the same day he got tested he got pretty sick. Fever, headache, cough and bad body aches. Mom and kid tested positive, but by this time mom had similar symptoms. The kid got a runny nose and was cranky for 2 total days beginning 4 days after mom got sick, 6 days after dad. The child barely had any symptoms. Everyone in the family is now symptom free 12 days after dad got the initial symptoms.
This is pretty classic. Individuals in their late 20's feel really crappy for a few days, then recover. Toddler with minimal to no symptoms. Odds are that the vast majority of younger people do well. Parents are poor, from a racial minority, blue collar people in a service industry (dad works at a grocery store). Luckily, the 60 year old grandmother with diabetes and obesity was not staying with them. The parents knew immediately that they needed to stay away from her. My patients' families have been remarkably sophisticated about all of this.
