If we're insisting on U .S. C...

University of Serial Cheaters is both factual, speaks to their endemic culture, and is a good smack moniker.

This would be a good time to ask for opinions on the U-S-C boards.

Over on The Dome we're all about 11 years old. This board talks real football and doesn't need to taunt. Stay above the bums and criminals down south and drop the BS. Just kick their butts.

For those of us who don't have time for the Dome's noise, we like to get a tiny bit of taunting in.  Just a bit :D

We aren't very good at taunting, so we like to have the board software do it for us.  :P

Super weird idea.

Some of us have enough trouble with the Queen's English as it is, without a lot of static from the software.  What if we were - crazy I know - allowed just to type what we wanted to type and have it show up in our posts?

So if you want to call USC Uneaten Sriracha Condiments or Used Stretched Condoms or anything wildly clever like that or put a cute little dollar sign where the S should be just to show your awesome grasp of irony, go for it.  We will all know how cute and clever you are. Seriously, the Tech site doesn't auto-change UGA, but posters have probably a dozen names of varying viciousness for the flagship university out in Clarke County.  Some even call it weird things like "UGA" or "Georgia."

Thank you kindly for considering and (most likely) ignoring my suggestion.

And you know, they just hate "Southern Cal" for some reason. Their version of "Frisco" I guess.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working….I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. – Peter Gibbons

There is nothing in the software to stop anyone from improvising the "cute little" names you suggest.  The software does, however, notify any lurkers who might be fans of these targeted schools that we "fart in their general direction".  ;D

I really liked Shamed Coaches.  Much more clever and apropos than any of the others.

Hear, hear.

And they hate "Southern Cal" because of the association with Cal.

At a minimum, University of Seventh Choice doesn't make any sense gramatically - it should be Seventh Choice University, which, now that I think about it, really should be the moniker for S.anta C.lara U.niversity, because let's be real - would any true Stanford fan even have U.SC on their list?

True story: When I was a freshman, it was known as University of Santa Clara.  I still have old tee shirts with U.S.C. on them.  Given the fact that their colors and initials were almost identical, they changed the actual name of the University.

Any of those acronyms for you ess see are fine by me.  I can't stand the place.  My youngest was a junior and he and I were on the 110.  He had played in a volleyball tournament and he'd toured UCLA, UCI, UC San Diego.  He'd been on the UCSB campus many times for the Dos Pueblos volleyball tournament.  I convinced him to check out the U.S.C. campus.  We were out of the car for five minutes and he said, "Can we go?  I really don't want to go here."  I said, "Are you sure?  We've only seen a few buildings."  He quoted my older son who said, "I'd rather go to a junior college than go here."

I'm so proud...

I have a confession to make. I once had lunch at the USC University club. A former work colleague took a VP position at USC and when I visited him -- he took me and a friend to lunch at the University club.

I think it was 2011 (??) the week of the Oregon game in Matt Barkley's final year. We walked by the practice field where the band was practicing.  It was also about the time they removed Reggie Bush's Voldemort and jersey from their mini-museum (or what ever that place was).

I have a pic somewhere.

I bet you could do some interesting things with that pic in Photoshop :)

Maybe the University of SoCal.  Appropriately dismissive.

You don't need photoshop when they remove Reggie Bush but still proudly display OJ's trophy and jersey.

Wasn't the Reggie Bush payoff scandal the start of the landslide that lead to sanctions?
