Would be nice if this thread was pinned on the main board - as it was for a minute before coming down - so more people can see this significant news. The 2019 class is done and it seems likely there will be few if any more posts on it.

Hopefully Myles Hinton stays HEALTHY!

Probably not a guy who is going to be a big recruiter for the class.

BC, you did a great post talking about possible number of spots in the 2020 class.  Can we also pin that on the main board?

Congratulations to rruhlen for being the first to mention Myles Hinton on the CARDBoard!

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

In the Spring of 2017! That's like foreshadowing a 2022 recruit today... nice!

With that in mind, um... don't sleep on, um...

Commitment from Kohl's #1 kicker in the 2020 class, Joshua Karty!

Here he is kicking a 70-yard FG at Kohl's camp the other week:

Alamar has his specialists of the future with '19 PWO Sanborn and Karty.

Prosper, TX OT Jake Majors is announcing his college choice Thursday (Jan. 24). According to 247 sports, Stanford will be runner-up to UT-Austin, but maybe Cardinal fans will get a pleasant surprise? Majors is a 3-star recruit with a 4-star offer list (Stanford, Oklahoma, UT-Austin, Okla State, ASU, BC, Colorado, Arkansas, TCU, etc.).

I have no idea about the level of priority Majors carries for Stanford, as we already have a commitment from 5-star OT Myles Hinton, but I welcome the input of others who are more knowledgeable than I.

I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like we're coming in second on this one. It doesn't help our cause that UT is actually good again.

There are a fair share of instances in the past of guys committing somewhere else and flipping once they get the fat envelope from Stanford. Obi Eboh in fact flipped from Texas in '16.

As intimated, Majors picked Texas.

We seem to have at present 13 openings I can see 7 who could return for 2020 not returning. So at first glance a class of 20.

My count here was that we had 12 openings, accounting for one player coming back from his mission.

https://thecardboard.org/board/showthrea...rship+math

I count three guys who are high risk for declaring to the NFL with eligibility remaining: Costello, Little, Adebo.

There are like 19 other players who will be academic seniors but have eligibility remaining.  Easily seven who could either decide to move on or could be encouraged to move on.  So, I put the target class size at  more like 22 or 23.  But knowing Shaw he will err on the side of undershooting rather than overshooting, so I would be prepared for a class more along the lines of what you describe; twentyish.

Did we lose anyone (aside Smith and Herbig to the draft) who was not an academic senior?

never mind, I was already counting McKee post mission.  So your math is correct, but one of those 13 will go to McKee unless he doesn’t come back.

Now that it is NSD, I brought over the class of 2020 thread.

Also, an offer…

Ahh we can anticipate many poor attempts at humor going forward with that name.  Starting with my post here . . .
