1. Former Stanford player Richard Sherman gets an interception.
2. Former Stanford player Solomon Thomas gets a tackle for loss.
3. Former Stanford player Levine Toilolo throws two crushing blocks that allows a Niner RB to score a TD.
4. Former Stanford-of-the-East fullback Kyle Jusczyk gets three carries and three receptions.
5. Niners hold KC to less than 20 (only happened once this year...).
6. Shanahan's offense dazzles.  250+ yards passing, 250+ yards receiving.
7. Robert Saleh's defense dazzles.
8. Demi Lovato doesn't screw up the national anthem.
9. I don't even notice Joe Buck.  Aikman, I can live with.
10. SF gets win and game MVP.  Don't care who.
11. Mrs. Mick's nachos and pulled pork sandwiches are sublime (a given).
12. Garoppolo outplays Mahomes.
13. For the first Super Bowl in seven Niner Super Bowls, I get to watch unimpeded, with no interruptions, emergencies or intrusions.

Let's break this down:

QB - Chiefs
WR - Chiefs
RB - Niners (includes Juszyzk at FB)
TE - Even (but I wouldn't trade Kittle for Kelce because his blocking is dominant)
OL - Even
DL - Niners
LB - Niners
DB - Niners
ST - Even
Coach - Even

Niners should win based on having the better defense by a good margin, and that their ability to run the ball is part of that defense.

Interesting, Bob.  I think Aikman is the best NFL commentator.  Can’t stand Joe Buck

Mrs. Mick and I were at Roy's in Spanish Bay when I saw Joe Buck holding court for some fellow west-coast-haters, I presume.  We made eye contact, and I saw that look in his eyes that B- list celebrities get when a member of the foul unwashed dirty their breathing air.  Don't worry, Joe, I don't want your autograph, or a selfie, or ten seconds of your time.  Go back to embracing the wonderful Midwest and keep California Joe Buck-free.

Heard on the radio that the #1 or #2 defense has met the #1 or #2 offense in the Super Bowl nine times, and that the team with the higher rated defense won seven of them.

In the regular season, Niners were #4 on offense (381.1 ypg) and Chiefs were #6 on offense (379.2 ypg).  On defense, KC was #17 (349.6) and SF was #2 (281.8 ypg)

Key stat to me is that KC was #26 on run defense and SF was #2 on rushing offense (144.1 ypg).

Bank on it. Buck and Aikman will talk too much. The field reporters half time questions will be inane.

I also was at Stanford during the early glory years. I remember excitedly watching the Dallas-Niners championship game in 1981 at Los Arcos, my eating club. This year's team is an easy one to like and I would have been rooting for them against any other team in the league.

But I grew up a few hours from Kansas City when the Chiefs were in their glory years. Hank Stram, Len Dawson, Jan Stenerud, Buck Buchanan, Willie Lanier. Today I am thinking of my late aunt and uncle who lived in KC and regularly went to the games. They were such big fans that I became a fan too.

I went to every home game at old municipal stadium that magic championship season 50 years ago. Loved ‘em then love ‘em now and all those heartbreaks in between. Kc fans deserve this one.

Stop with screen passes unless you're trying to get the receiver killed...

Jimmy Garappolo didn't exactly shine when the lights were brightest. Too many missed throws and missed reads. Garappolo failing to recognize that Kittle was open and the 49ers settled for a field goal was costly, and there was the time when he missed Sanders down the middle (that said, I did not love the long bomb when the 49ers simply needed to move the chains or at least set up a fourth and short). The 49er defense wore down but but I felt they did a pretty good job of containing Mahomes. And now Shanahan will have to deal with the stink of having two offenses sputter in the fourth quarter.

I guess because men seem to want them to do so and there is money in such performances.   It was all pretty dumb, but I was pretty impressed with the ... conditioning.

I had back surgery a few months ago, and just watching the gyrations were making my back sore.

Shanahan struck me as not quite ready for prime time compared to Reid.  I thought the call on Kittle was marginal compared to what WASN'T being called during the game.  KC's receivers were MUCH faster than our DBs.  Our DBs were marginal, IMHO.  KC was ready for our run offense.  BOth our offense and defense got tired in the fourth quarter.  I think Garoppolo will be a smarter, savvier quarterback because of this.  At then end of the day, a 4-12 team last year finished 2nd in the NFL.  I'll take that any day.  I'm satisfied.

Agree 100 percent.  I thought the 49ers had a better team overall coming in but that KC had a big edge at QB. 4 key plays. 1- 3d and 5 up 10. Right after INT.   He doesn’t see a wide open Kittle. Incompletion. 2- 3d and 15. Mahomes finds Hill deep as he’s getting hit.   Friend of mine told me he heard the radio people say it was a blown coverage. 3. Up 3. Third and 5 again. He again doesn’t see Kittle. Throws to the wrong guy. What I really don’t understand is why he’s not looking for Kittle in those situations in the first place. He’s by far their best receiver. 4.  3d and 10. 1:30 left. Sanders has a TD if he makes that throw.

I have no real criticism of Shanahan, thought he called a great game. (I thought he might draw on 2nd and 10 last drive. But that’s a nit). If they make the plays they’re supposed to they win. It’s a simple as that.  He put them in a position to win the football game. They didn’t make the plays.
