One question: He reports a low SAT score on his Twitter page, but he's just finishing his sophomore year in high school, so there are plenty of opportunities to retake the test. Having said that, sophomore year seems really early to even take the SAT. Or is that a thing nowadays?

He has offers from everyone already. Mega-whale.

I think nowadays it's more common to take the SAT multiple times, especially since some schools will accept your "superscore" (combination of best sections over multiple tests). Not sure about taking it early like that though. However, IMO it's really not a bad idea to take it early to see if one area needs more improvement than the other and/or just to get comfortable with the test before "the real thing" the following year.

Thanks for letting me know, Samuel McF. I took the SAT twice in the fall of my senior year. When I was a sophomore (or maybe a junior) I took the PSAT. But that was in the previous millenium.

In any case, I miss the days of TightEndU, so I'm really hoping that we can land Donovan Green. Our current TE room members had the following 247sports rankings as recruits:

Scooter Harrington, 2016: 28th-ranked TE
Tucker Fisk, 2017: 25th
Tae Le (walkon), 2018: 73rd
Bradley Archer, 2019: 20th
Lukas Unger, 2020: 13th
Ben Yurosek, 2020: 19th

And those recently departed:
Kaden Smith (2016): 2nd
Colby Parkinson (2017): 1st

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

Yeah, he tagged Bobby Kennedy in his tweet and one of the photos featured Osiris St. Brown.

Second mega-stud WR offer of the day, Tetairoa McMillan, is also from SoCal.

When I saw 4.23, I was thinking "man, that's a fast 40!"

The #1 OL and overall recruit in Washington. 3.7 GPA. The picture of Foster Sarell is a nice touch.

Maureen Dowd usually has an acerbic wit, but wow did she dip her quill in some powerful acid for that column.

Now y’all can appreciate why I have such deep contempt for Facebook and have been so bothered when Stanford uses it as an exclusive communication platform. It goes against every fiber of my moral core to patronize it. At one time you could view its content without its dystopian surveillance system tapping into your soul. It still used cookies to track you, but you could always clear them. Not anymore. Now only logging in will reveal content, and once logged in there is no escape. It’s like a parasite you can’t remove once in you. So I won’t ever see Facebook content again as long as my heart beats. I’m more than happy about this and sincerely hope more people come to the same conclusion for themselves.

Twitter certainly does some of its own surveillance but it does not relentlessly serve content to you that feeds your emotions. It also features pretty benign commercial advertising. Twitter puts you in control of what you see to a much greater degree than even YouTube, with far less suggested content beyond what is crowd-sourced and based on overall popularity. And admittedly, having the world’s biggest internet troll blocked, makes for a less hot hellscape than it would be otherwise.

Oh, damn, I just realized this post is on recruiting board. It really doesn’t belong here. Actually only really belongs on a How to Save America board.

This has been the case for at least three years.  Unsurprisingly, the most complete and deep unit on the team is wide receiver, and you can draw a straight line from aggressive recruiting at the position to promising core of receivers on the team.  So the question is why isn't this logic applied to positions where we've had issues?  Is it something about the position (WR isn't necessarily a position that historically is easy to recruit to)?  The position coach?

I have no idea. Adding to your frustration a bit, I was going through the offer list and we missed this one from a month ago:

The #3 TE in the country is a fantastic student with a 4.6 GPA, and local - from San Jose. Has an uncle who attended Stanford. This is a guy we have to close on in order to reverse the aforementioned trend of non-whale TEs.
