Who let the dogs out?  Willie Howard’s kid is now a recruit.

https://stanford.rivals.com/news/son-of-...ng-process

And it’s a position of need.

I was about to post this, but didn't know if it was allowed. That is my nephew and has been working very hard for all the offers he has been getting.

Willie Howard is one of my all-time favorites!   Crossing fingers on this one!

Very cool! Congrats to your nephew. What an impressive offer list at a young age.

In terms of recruiting indicators, Jaxon Howard is followed by Mike Eubanks, Lance Anderson, and Morgan Turner (area recruiter for Minnesota) on Twitter. He is the only 2023 recruit followed by multiple coaches, and that combination suggests we like him at OLB.

Given the above, it feels like an offer will be more of a "when" than an "if." The question is when the "when" might be too late with a recruit of this caliber. (Certainly a lot of other big boy programs are in on the action early.) In recent history we've only offered sophomores in their first semester a couple times. Typically our first slew of offers comes in February/March of sophomore year, after first semester grades are out.

Fingers crossed!

We have now made 2 LDS offers in '21, so technically they are recruits for '23. DB Damuni was mentioned in the '21 thread, Daley is new. Daley is an OLB whose dad played for BYU and older brother will be playing at BYU post-mission.

Willie's son gets the first nod!

(Not counting '21 LDS recruits, which I count as part of '21 offers anyways.)

First tight end offer.  He’s a Georgia commit, though.

When I was thinking of going to Stanford I knew enough to say Stanford University rather than the University of Stanford.
However, I had no idea that the official, legal name was Leland Stanford Junior University.
I got a letter with this heading and thought WTF is this?

S/LB, but I'm guessing that since Akina offered, he'd be looked at S.

Another early WR offer.
https://247sports.com/Player/Braylon-James-46097448/

Notable on offer pace: this is offer #10. Here is when we hit offer #10 in previous classes.

2023: March
2022: May
2021: June
2020: April
2019: April
2018: December (boy will I be happy when we're far enough away that I don't have to bring this class up again)

James had good things to say about Bobby Kennedy, who continues to be one of our best recruiters:

Whale DE. Looks like he also got the green light for an offer from Haase? (None of the BB coaches follow him on Twitter, so I'm curious about the veracity of that.)

He would be "free" to the basketball coaches so long as Shaw allowed him to play during the BB season.  I wonder if the dual sport offer is "here's your scholarship offer, which has to be football because of the NCAA rules.  If you come, you can play basketball after the season is over."  I think that was basically the deal with Teyo Johnson.
