Giants let him loose today (DFA). It was time.  Right move, no question.  Great Giant. Forever thankful. He will always have a place in the organization if he wants it.  I could see him managing someday.

Agree and agree. Wish him the best and look forward to his future success, whatever it may be. Thanks Hunter.

(Though, I'd be surprised if he reads the Cardboard)

Hunter does. Has four or five aliases. Longtime Stanford football fan. Favorite player was Jerry Waldvogel.

Always thought he got hosed. Christensen gave him the Michigan game. Toughest of the three opponents.

In 2022, of all the players attending the 2012 WS reunion, I think Pence will receive the loudest cheer (and deservedly so).

He'll never have to pay for a drink in SF again.  And I'd be happy to stand in line for the opportunity to take care of his tab.

And don't forget this:

Hunter Pence as Bluto.  Tim Lincecum as Boon.  Buster Posey as Otter.  Brandon Belt as D-Day.  Madison Bumgarner eerily accurate vocal rendition of Stork.  Affeldt as Pinto.  And Brandon Crawford as the brutally miscast Flounder.

And the original…

Shark has been surprisingly good so far. Gyros score one on a couple fielders choices.

One of the guys in the Athletic started to outline all the possibilities with just 4 games to go, but he also basically said the Giants control their destiny.  Win and you're in.

And then Kapler does what he has done far too often this season:  just make the idiotic decision (leaving pitcher in who can't find the strike zone).  Walk off 3-run dinger for San Diego in game 2 of double-header.  Seriously, I hope some reporter has the balls to ask him WTF he had Wandy warming up for in the last inning if not to face the lefty hitter who walked it off.  Of course, they won't.

Look, in one sense, the Giants and their paltry 3 hits didn't deserve to win, but it absolutely sucks when the manager just freaking makes the WORST decisions to hamper your team's ability to win.  That's 3 egregious last-inning decisions this year that led to Ls that you can attribute directly to Kapler.

I'm sure he's made lots of good decisions, and most decisions are of the "reasonable minds can differ" variety.  But watching Coonrad scuffle in the last inning (for second night in a row), AND you leave him in to serve up the game-loser.  Effing inexcusable.

P.S. The Padres starter had nasty stuff. Hope he is okay for the playoff run for the Padres. Giants caught a of immense proportions break when he left the game.

Does anyone want to face the Dodgers? It appears they really don’t. The Giants had the Rockies on the ropes and couldn’t finish. They had a 5-1 lead against Padres and almost blew it in 7th. Then they get walked off in their own park, blowing a 2-run lead.

The Phillies have dropped 4 of their last 5. The Brewers have lost 3 of their last 4. Meanwhile, the Marlins have clinched the #2 spot in the East.

Giants basically need one more win for the opportunity to be slaughtered by the Dodgers. They have pissed away their shot at #7 and the Braves already. Cincy has locked that in.
