I was lucky to see Williams live.

The only one I'd pay to see is Ruth. The greatest sports personality ever, including Hercules.

I'm trying to bait TC/Phogge into giving me his all a-hole team.  He's usually not shy about it.

Right, I remember seeing you there. Or not. IIRC, there was a contest where catchers tried to throw the ball into a barrel on second base and outfielders tried to catch pop flies while driving around in a jeep. I thought it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen ( at nine years old). Seals Stadium smelled like beer and cigars, which also made a big impression on me. Ted Williams, not so much.

A couple of years before the Red Sox bought the franchise the Indians broke camp in Tucson and headed up the West Coast. They played a few games against the Padres (their Open Classification Farm team) and the Hollywood Stars. Two games in Seals Stadium. A bunch of us kids were allowed to stand near the first base dugout and ask for autographs. I think I got Bobby Avila, Al Rosen, Big Ears Mossi and Bob Lemon. We pleaded with Bob Feller but he ignored us. Finally one big kid in the back yelled, “F*** you Feller!” First time I heard the word. So for BC, here’s the All A Hole team (only players I had contact with.

Albert Belle
Barry Bonds
Willie Mays
Jeff Kent
Gary Gaetti
Johnny Antonelli
Kirk Gibson
Billy Martin
Joe D. However he could be Doctor Jekyll at times.

And the best:
Gaylord
Dick Dietz
Orlando
Juan Marichal
Robby Thompson
Frank Viola
Johnny Bench
Harold Reynolds
Tito Fuentes

And the one guy I would love to have lunch with: Bill Veeck.

I had a great time one year ago this weekend with Tito’s son at a party. He’s manager of the semi pro Napa Crushers
Robby Thompson and wife adopted several children I believe his wife’s sisters family when the parents died in a car accident

Nice list phogge. Well the good guy list
I can’t remember the names right now but how about the owner of the famous Berkeley restaurant. Hope good

Alice Waters. Shot a 60 Minutes profile of her over two weeks. Leslie Stahl was actually very nice throughout but she could be hell on wheels some days. Alice was great but somewhat bizarre during the main interview. Had a nice little Craftsman in Kensington.

New book out by ex 60’s producer Ira Rosen. He has some great stories about Wallace, some of which I witnessed. Must read for news junkies.
