Wow, Fred, you are one of Stanford’s great die hard WBBall fans. I love it! Thanks for sharing all the memories

Fred’s stories inspired me to share. I was fortunate enough to attend the Cardinal’s first four Final Fours. This video of the post-game was bittersweet to watch - while it is, of course, wonderful to see a celebration finally after so many close calls, the fact that it took place in a hotel ballroom takes away a bit of the joy. The team celebrated the first championship at the Azzi home. I crashed the party with my friend who was Martha Richard’s academic advisor. Everyone was so over the moon! The band was there along with a healthy contingent of ecstatic Stanford fans. I’m sure Ki’s family did all they could to make things festive but the COVID protocols limited the revelry. Skipping ahead to Minneapolis in 1995, the most memorable moment came before the final (I prefer to forget the outcome against UConn). I happened to be staying at the same hotel as the team and before heading to the arena, I went for a meal and ran into Ted Leland at the restaurant. He must’ve thought I was a rich donor since I can’t think of any other reason he would’ve told me before the public announcement that Tara would be coaching the Olympic team. Just a couple of favorite memories from many, many happy years of fan hood.

The send off from San Antonio

I also noticed a link to a Spurs podcast hosted by Matt Bonner with Kiana as the special guest:

Great podcast. Matt Bonner's sister Becky played at Stanford for 2 years:

That was very well done.  I teared up all over again.  I think there were many camera angles showing the raw emotion in their faces that could not be seen at regular game speed.  Awesome.

Yes really great video.  I loved the quote on the whiteboard in the locker room before the game.  Winning isn't a big thing it's a million little things.  Really captured how we won the game.  Wilson staying in front of McDonald on the last play.  Jones scoring in the lane.  Lexie taking the charge from McDonald.  Brink blocking shots.  And Williams running the offense.  True team effort.

Jerome getting a couple of rebounds/steal to give us extra possessions. Glad everyone, but Emma, got a chance to play, and contribute, in the championship game. Memories that will remain in your mind the rest of your life.

Any significance to the fact that when Tara cut down the second net, she gave it to Ana Wilson?  Or was it just that each of the seniors got one?

I wonder if Alyssa will come back for an extra year. I've loved watching her contributions over the past four seasons.

When the buzzer goes off, the team rushes the floor and this is also the best view of Prechtel taking Jana's noggin right in the (Van Gyten)beak.  Jana doesn't even flinch, which bodes well as point guards have to be headstrong.  I'm thankfully surprised that there aren't more injuries in these celebratory dogpiles.

I'm surprised they didn't stop the celebration so Missy could go to the monitor to determine whether it was a Flagrant 1...

I imagine Prechtel felt that for a couple of days afterwards.

Takes me back 40 years when I was an intern in a Senate office writing these sorts of honorific resolutions.  It does make me wonder if DiFi has a Stanford intern or low level staff member from Stanford this year, since this resolution is unusually detailed.  Would not be a surprise considering her Stanford background, and her office's reputation for constituent services.  (Has always done a good job with "cards and letters" as we termed it.)  This feels a lot more like her office's work than Padilla's, which is too new to have mastered the finer touches of constituent services (and is from MIT, not a Stanford alum.)  In any case, it is a nice touch.

Totally enjoyable indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to the "banquet" today -- going to watch with two friends who were with us for the Arizona game. And last night, in anticipation of the Banquet today and to properly celebrate the Championship. we hosted another two friends  for dinner who have been with us to regionals and Pac-12 championships.  (So glad all of the people involved have been vaccinated so we could get together!) Before dinner, we re-watched the last five minutes of the SC and Arizona games. It's still heart-stopping to see the last seconds of those games.  Highlight of the dinner was a 1990 Stag's Leap Vineyards Cask 23, vintage chosen in honor of the first championship. Like Tara, it's still VERY good.

Is the "banquet" today? Is it on Zoom as last year? Is the public invited to join the Zoom call?

Yes at 4pm, yes, and I don't know. I got the invite as a season ticket holder.
