CZC, you'll note that the adversaries remained the same in the Punic War example, whereas Stanford gets to play new opponents each week...the model doesn't hold.  But the idea of playing to your strengths as Oasis has mentioned is still valid.

Seems to me aggressive/high risk strategies make more sense when you are the underdog.  Like pricing options, more volatility means more value.

Quote:My expectations are high. I expect us to win every game, including Oregon. I just get relieved with these kind of games. They really do happen often in college football. We have some weak spots on our team but we still pull out W's.

Quote:I guess that makes me delusional. Oregon is just a team. We beat the team Under Stanford Control, Arizona, and we went into OT against Northern Indiana Parochial College. Our struggles don't define us as a team. I don't expect use to get embarrassed, I expect a competitive game and I'm not going to wake up that day expecting to lose.

Quote:I guess I'm delusional since I go into every game thinking our defense can hold opposing offenses to 14 points or less when they are on their A game, and our offense just needs to be good enough to score more.

Quote:Whatever you want to call it. I know we have what it takes to beat them. I believe we can beat them and I will watch that game expecting our guys to pull out the W in a very tough game. I'm delusional.

Just saying. Am I still delusional, oman?
