...or, at least, off by ten days.  Knew it was going to be tough...and it was.

Man, what a feeling.  Doing it with defense and just enough offense.  Not my favorite way to win,  but there are a lot of schools sitting home and a lot of them playing in the  Wesson Oil Bowl  or equivalent.  I'll take it.  Bummer that my SoCal trip fell through but it's still a BCS win on my TV,  so it must be in so in real life.  Feel so happy for Ben Gardner.  Got the fairy-tale revenge ending to his story.

Glad to see JRP make a contribution and a spectacular one.  Wish him well and wish our WR corps upgrades considerably next season.    Hope Ertz would stay, but he won't.  Hope Skov will stay but it's a toss-up.  Hope Toilolo will stay and he should.  Hope we get to see Kelsey Young for more than one play per game in the future.  Hope Hogan gets his brain/arm connection calibrated by a click or two to lower those passes to open receivers...but think we might be seeing some sort of upper limit to Hogan which is still higher and more positive than the upper limit for Nunes.

And now... to the Scotch cabinet!  Macallan 18 for the victors!  er...well,  to the fans and hangers-on of the real victors.

Kelsey Young probably played his greatest number of snaps today. We had plays that were clearly intended to get him the ball in the passing game but he was covered. Ah well.

I waited 41 years for this day.  Hard to put into words what this means to a real Stanford fan.  But I am so appreciative that our team did this season with high standards and class.  I'm growing more impressed with Shaw, and looking forward to an even better season next year, if that is possible!

Goes without saying it's great to win the Rose Bowl. But even better to see so many great individual stories interleaved in there as well. A great way for JRP to go out. Revenge for Gardner. Williamson's triumph over Fiesta demons. Amanam making the best of his switch to the defense. Shaw's first BCS win as a head coach. And so on.

The official LA Times photo gallery from the game (before, during and after).

JRP's amazing catch is around #30 (depending on where the ads are placed in the stream)
Ertz's catch is #31

I was a bit concerned going into halftime because we weren't handling the rushing attack well. Further, the passes that were deflected and almost intercepted in the first half were misses that would have killed their offensive drives.  If those pass deflections had been incompletions or interceptions, we possibly would have been looking at a 0-14 halftime score

Mason's defensive adjustments in the 2nd half were great! Total Wisky rushing was held to 54 yards with Doak Award winner Montee Ball being held to just 13 yards! The interception to stop their last drive (which was itching to happen) was just the icing on the cake to a brutal defensive effort.

If I had a dollar every time I was distracted,  I wish I had some ice cream.

For those who were at the game and may have missed it, yes, Tiger Woods was at the game. Thus ends the supposed jinx he had on the team.

He wasn't an honorary captain.
