Today was the first day of teaching for the new term for me (University of Arizona). I am teaching one of my favorite classes. Introduction to Life-Span Human Development. As part of the first lecture of the term I generally give an over view of my life to get students into the groove of "how do our choices and biology influence our psychological development?" As part of this I post some pics of the kids in Stanford gear, dad and I at the Rose Bowl etc.
After class a young woman approaches me and asks if I follow Stanford Football, obviously she was not paying attention to my introduction. I respond that I do, she says "I am Austin Hooper's girlfriend. I am so excited for him to go to the NFL!!"
This is by far the most random Stanford related experience I have had at my current institution.

Heroism is not defined by one great act, but by a lifetime of right action.
