I'd be inclined to say that this was more like the 2014 game with the roles reversed.  We mangled their offense when points were on the line, and we took all of what their defense gave us

U$C punted from our 41, our 44, turned it over on downs on our 18, and threw an INT from our 17.

Still, in 2014 we pushed U$C up and down the field, but had a remarkable ability to not score. Bill Connelly (hopefully the right guy - from memory) pronounced that our loss was the least likely of the year based upon his overall game metrics.
In 2016, we ran for 302 yards, outgained them by a reasonable amount overall, and I am quite sure the football outsiders metrics would predict a win.
