Averie Collins scored her second goal of the match with 2 seconds left on the clock to lead Stanford to a come-from-behind victory in a game that got fairly chippy in Corvallis.
No video or audio, so only able to follow via Gametracker; looked like the Beavers did what they do - bunker in and try to poach goals on the counter-attack. They scored first in the 11th minute on what feels like a breakaway; the official description is that Campbell came out and got chipped, which to me means she felt like she had to come for the ball. Stanford tied it when Collins slid to poke a cross from Sam Tran a few minutes before halftime.
OSU went in front again on shot from outside the box that went top corner to beat Campbell, and I thought that their style might hold off the day, in spite of Stanford dominating the run of play. Let me put it this way - OSU took 3 shots. For the game. 2 were on goal. Both went in. Stanford, meanwhile, had taken in the low teens, and was behind.
The chippiness I mentioned? OSU committed six fouls to Stanford's one in the first half. In the second? Stanford with 7 and OSU with 10. The last foul called on the Beavers resulted in a PK for Andi Sullivan, which she converted in the 78th minute to tie the score. Oh, and a couple of minutes later, OSU picked up their fourth yellow card - after a Stanford foul. I guess dissent, but?
In any case, watching via the gametracker is always iffy - you can never tell when the action will update. So when no new messages after a couple of Stanford corners and shots in the 87th and 88th minute, I resigned myself to OT. Then the number in the top left changed to 3. The description is "Ball played into box and put into bottom corner for the winner." At 89:58 on the clock.
Hope the sports report has the highlights.
