Definitely time for the schools to seize more control on scheduling from the networks.  Out of balance!

Oddly the face price on the ticket is $118, but I only paid $70. I wonder what the deal with that is.

$70 v $119.

Likely a contractual thing related to price points for the block of tickets provided by one school to the other school.

The $119 likely would be used if the tickets are returned by Stanford and then UCB sells those seats to other ticket purchasers.  Just a hunch, my guess is some set of UCB types have a similar price point for sitting in comparable sections as part of season ticket packages and Stanford gets to use THAT price to then sell tickets to us.

well if you go to the cal ticket site is shows ticket prices of $50-$70 (with no availability) in Sec NN where my seats are located.....

the sections on either side of what I presume is the "no availability" Stanford sections also show prices of $50-$70.

The opposite end zone has prices of $55-$65

No clue then.  Given their financial woes it was probably too big of a leap to assume there was a logical rationale behind the printed pricing.  :)

Still suspect it has something to do with creating the possibility of higher prices for single game purchases and/or demand based pricing programs.  Now that the team is 4-5 and not 8-1 it might be hard to decipher now if $119 was ever going to be part of a demand based pricing model.

FWIW - I would love to see the ticket sales forecast they had included in the plans for that stadium debt a few years ago and the compare it to the 2016 reality.

Let me just say this because I don't think it can be said often enough...
I hate the Pac-12 Networks. More accurately, I hate that I don't have it on DirecTV. I know that I can ditch DirecTV and get Fios, but I have no intention of doing that. Sometimes someone will loan me their log-in information and allow me to stream the game, but my Saturdays are so full with kids' activities that it's rare that I can spend four hours in the middle of the day watching a football game. I almost always have to record it and watch it in the evening, which means I don't get to watch any P12 games. I didn't get to watch the Colorado game (maybe not a bad thing), I probably won't get to watch Oregon this weekend, and now it's looking like I might miss Big Game. I'm not looking for a solution, because no one on this board can bring DirecTV and the Pac-12 to the negotiating table. I'm just venting.

Why do you refuse to switch from DirectTV?

$70 v $119.

from an email from the AD

We also wanted to make you aware of a minor printing issue. Your tickets incorrectly list the price as $119, but the tickets are valued at and you were charged $70. Rest assured, you were not charged more than you originally agreed to. Your tickets are still valid and will properly scan at California Memorial Stadium. We recognize and want to apologize for any inconvenience and confusion this may have caused.

I miss the days when Stanford games were on the local channels when they weren't on the broadcast channels. Who remembers Raycom Sports?
