Justin Wilcox continues to show some savvy by grabbing up Jerry Azzinaro as his new D-line coach. When promoted to head coach Chip Kelly brought "Coach Azz" to Oregon as a D-line coach to work with DC Nick Aliotti. At that time Azzinaro had already had D1'/Big 5 defensive coordinator experience and he functioned @ Oregon as a de facto 2nd DC to work with Aliotti in implementing more 3-4 alignments. He's a high energy and intense guy with a martial arts background who did a great job with UO developing talent.

I believe his wife is/was an investment banker, and even though they are East Coast folks it would seem that his short stay with Chip @ 49ers may have drawn them to be open for other opportunities to stay in the Bay Area; hence the 59ers. Wilcox continues to impress with his coaching hires as they now have 3 former DCs on staff with DeRuyter, Azzinaro, and himself. 2018 defensive recruiting is going to be a cage match on the West Coast.
