I agree KJ provided a "spark" to the team's play that I don't see when Burns or Chryst are in.  And our team is much more "watchable" with KJ under center (i.e., I wasn't cringing at each snap of the ball).

I think the best thing that happened to the offensive line was that after Costello arrived and demonstrated that he could throw downfield effectively, the line was no longer forced to block eleven defenders on every run play.

I'm hoping Costello gets some more reps in practice at least.  If he can figure out the proper read during the mesh on those read-option plays, look out.  Missed a few of them in his first extended action.

Here's an interesting thing Costello said postgame. When asked about practice reps, he explained that because of the mental demands of running the Stanford system, the starting quarterback gets the vast majority of the reps during practice. He said that he and Burns would typically get "one or two reps" at the end of each session. He said that it's their responsibility to focus on "mental reps" during practice so that they're ready go when they get their turn. Regardless of what might be going on with Chryst, we can probably assume that he won't be practicing, which will give more reps to both Costello and Burns.

I think Shaw was a big fan of the StriVR device and he recommended it to Dabo Sweeney a couple of years ago.  I'm hoping that they are all still using it.  For those of you that like sports tech, there is a nice set of displays upstairs in the new Hall of Fame room(s) that pay homage to Stanford's contributions to sports tech (the Cool Glove, the Erg, etc...).   

I think KJ will be getting plenty of reps this week.  It was pretty obvious that he sparked the offense and I for one, appreciate his EUTM.  I hope that Burns, Chryst and Shaw all push him to get better with each snap.  We need him to be the best he can be to march through the rest of this schedule.  I really want a rematch with the trojans and I think we can get there with KJ and the Love band.  Stay healthy, my friends!
