Beyond that kind of injury to an impact player . . . no one (other than affected team and its fans) cares.Â
P.S. On another thread: Stanford has no chance at CFP. But here's a more legit question: is some NY6 Bowl required to take the Pac champion? I don't think so, and I could readily see a scenario whereby Pac 12 champion Stanford gets left out (even with a healthy Love). Specifically, beat all conference foes (except WSU, who loses to UW), lose to ND, win CCG. That would make Stanford 9-4, and not very attractive to NY6 bowl hosts. Hell, a 10-3 Stanford team that beats ND might also get shutout.
Sheesh teejers, is there no bound to your pessimism? I mean you could have looked it up and saved others from considering your dumb proposition. The Wikipedia page explains:
Quote:Twelve schools are selected for the major bowls. These include the champions of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Pac-12 Conference and Southeastern Conference. The highest-ranked champion from the "Group of Five" conferences (American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, and Sun Belt) is guaranteed a berth if the group's top team is not in the playoff.
Its one thing to be pessimistic about stuff that we dont know the answer to, but it takes a whole new level of wet noodleism to be pessimistic about stuff thats demonstrably false. So, yeah, it is conceivable that a 7-5 team that lost all three of its non-conference games, made the conference title as a two-loss team, and then scored an upset to claim the conference championship would make a New Years six game.
