Congrats to Daejon on what will hopefully be the first of many.  http://pac-12.com/article/2018/01/15/dav...ekly-honor

• STANFORD’s Daejon Davis earns his first Pac-12 Player of the Week award for the week of Jan. 8-15 as voted on by media who cover the league. The freshman led Stanford to its first conference road sweep in eight seasons and its first four-game winning streak in Conference play in 10 seasons.

• For the week, Davis averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists to collect the Cardinal's first weekly Conference honor since 2015. Davis is only the fourth freshman in Stanford program history (Brook Lopez 2007, Jason Collins 1999, Howard Wright 1986) to earn Player of the Week accolades.

Last time for a Stanford player was 2015?  Ouch.

By doing so, he's done something that Chason Randle, Landry Fields, Chris Hernandez, Josh Childress, Casey Jacobsen, Robin Lopez, Jarron Collins, Mark Madsen, Brevin Knight, Todd Lichti, Adam Keefe, and a bunch of other quite storied Stanford players never accomplished.

Chasson Randle got it in 2015, according to wiki. (And Anthony Brown had received it the week before.) Wiki also says Randle got it during the 2013-2014 season.

I think Boston Card meant as a freshman.

The amazing thing to me is that a lot of folks here were ready to write off Davis as a bust when he started the season badly.  I wasn't one of those, but I though it might take a full year for Davis to be a major contributor.  Major props to Davis and to Haase for righting the ship quickly.

Randle was not a freshman when he got it.  Re-reading my post, my bad for phrasing it as "never accomplished".  I meant "never accomplished as freshmen".

Got it! I misread, and was pretttty sure he'd won it a few times over his time at Stanford. That makes much more sense. And it's definitely encouraging to see!

I know it's player of the WEEK but still find it a little strange they wouldn't even mention in passing that he hit the game-winning 55 footer with 1.7 seconds left the prior week.  :-X
