Today is the day that Franklin (aka Tank) Huang needs to shoot in the 60s. This is his fourth and last time in this tournament. I predicted that the team would need three rounds in the 60s to earn a fourth round. Wu delivered in the first round. Salinda delivered in the second round. Tank - it's time to lock and load!

+13 cumulative is my guess to advance to Monday.

Well, we've moved above the cut line without even stepping foot on the course as teams above us have been racking up bogies. Other than Dook, which seems to have made a pact with the (blue) devil and is a miraculous -12 through 12, the rest of the field seems to be scoring higher than yesterday. Average so far is +2.

Stanford is currently at +14 as players are making the turn.  Looks like they will be in cluster of about 6 teams battling for the final 2 spots. But I don't think they have any shot at top 8 and match play. Kent State currently holds 8th place at +8. Still, it would be a nice accomplishment to get to play tomorrow.

The golf course has played very consistently across 3 rounds judging by the average individual score:

Round 2 - 74.30
Round 3 - 74.00 (with half the field still on the course)

The course is giving up good team scores. The course record for a team has been broken every day. Northwestern 280 (-8) on day 1; Alabama 279 (-9) on day 2; Duke 276 (-12) today.

If I've said this before, I will say it again: Let's get Karl Vilips to leave high school two years early.  That little Australian is phenomenal.  Saw him ho-hum a 205-yard seven iron.  Looked like he was holding back.  Also looks about 5'7", 150.

He has as good a position at the top as any player I've ever seen.  You see it and think, "there is no way this isn't a purely struck shot."

The little Aussie happens to be a Florida prep school classmate of Aline Krauter of Germany, who will quickly become our favorite Stanford female golfer of all time.  She could become a very solid contributor, too.

We need better players.  The current men's team has only one player, Huang, who has made a total of one Rolex All American junior team, he as an honorable mention.  (Note: Each year's team of 48 includes 12 on each of the first and second teams and 24 honorable mentions.

(Correction: Nate Menon was an HM Rolex All American in 2016.)

The current woman's team, by sharp contrast, has four players who have combined to make 13 Rolex teams, including eight first teams (Lee four, Aubert three, and Liu one).

The Pac-12 is really struggling at the NCAA Championships this year. Only 1 team (Arizona State) will likely make the 54-hole cut at this point as part of the top 15, and they will need to make up 8 strokes tomorrow to make the last eight. Pac-12 also only sent 4 teams out of 30 (ASU, Stanford, UCLA, and Oregon) to Oklahoma. Contrast that with the SEC, ACC and Big 12, and this is another sport that the Pac-12 has historically been very strong where it seems to be falling behind other conferences (basketball, baseball, football to some degree etc.)

Stanford actually finished at +20, 2 shots below the cut line according the final round 3 numbers. There may have been a late scoring correction.

However Isiaiah Salinda did qualify as one of the low individuals whose team missed the cut. He will play the final round tomorrow as an individual.

It was a season of "almost" for the Cardinal. They finished the NCAAs tied for 16th which is about where they were ranked coming into the tournament.
