I hope this isn't too political, but it seems a Stanford history prof has been, um, conducting opposition research on a student whose views he disagrees with?: https://www.stanforddaily.com/2018/05/31...ship-role/

Note that the professor is conservative and the student liberal. I would, of course, oppose the stunt whatever the ideological identifications of both parties.

So, what exactly is the relationship between the Hoover Institute and Stanford proper? Ferguson, uh, how to put this, doesn't seem like someone the wider university would really choose to be associated with (as the article goes into he has quite the past of behavior that makes this stunt somewhat unsurprising).

I wonder if he actually learned anything from this one.

Ugh, this is a bad week for Stanford in the news.  On top of the Ferguson story, there's a new book out about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos (short version: outright fraud from top to bottom).  And on Tuesday, people will be voting to recall the judge who sentenced Brock Turner to 6 months--that's not directly Stanford related, but it's a reminder of a bad story.
