Looks like just 3 points from the 3M for Stanford, still Cal got 0 so the adjusted projected lead is 41 points. Hopefully we do well in the rest of the races today!

Eastin wins the 400 IM in 3:57.03, a pool record but 2.4 seconds off her NCAA record last year. Forde finishes 3rd, and Raab is 7th. No Cal scorers, which is nice.

Ruck takes second in the 200 free, just 0.11 behind Louisville's Comerford, so she takes 17 points out of that. Pitzer wins the B final, so that's 9 more. Cal gets 4th, 7th, and 8th, so that's 38 points for Cal compared to our 26 in that event.
Ruck gets third in the 100 back, Nordmann 11th and Voss 14th. But Cal gets 2nd, 4th, and 9th, so they outscore us in that one, too.

Cal was projected to be up 57 at the end of tonight, and Cal is projected to come in second in the 200 medley relay; Stanford predicted to come in 7th. So Cal is poised to pick up some more points on us, but will still be behind the head-to-head projections if my math is right.
The good news is that we are supposed to gain 70 points on them tomorrow, so barring a horrendous last day, we ought to be in good shape.

So we end the day 34.5 points behind Cal. We are predicted to outgain them by 70 points tomorrow, so it will be close, but hopefully the good gals will pull it off.

The Weitzeil injury could be a brobdingnagian deal. She's the top ranked swimmer in the 100 Free and the anchor for the 400 free relay team.

I guess we really do live in a world of participation trophies. I can't believe they give out trophies to 8 places. What happened to 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

If Cal performs relatively better than expectations over Stanford for the first 3 days, they likely will perform better than expected on the 4th day.

20. Platform diving. We got 1st & 3rd at PAC-12s, but I thought our divers were somewhat inconsistent and, IIRC, everyone performed badly on the platform diving, but the Stanford divers didn't do as badly. I wouldn't count on points, but they may come through. Cal likely has no divers. Stanford 110, Cal 62.
21. 400 Fr Relay. Cal should easily win this event. Pessimistically, Stanford should do no worse than 5th. Stanford 138, Cal 102

A very key point is that Stanford has to make the A finals on the 400 Fr Relay and don't get DQed. If we make the A finals, we lose no more than 28 points on that last relay (6 more than I assumed). So, I suspect Stanford will just have to not get DQed in order to win. If Stanford doesn't make the A final (unlikely), they'd have to pick up some more points elsewhere.

How the heck does the freestyler on the relay injure her elbow? Honestly, I've never heard of a swimmer (well, except a backstroker) injuring their elbow in the pool in the 60 years of swimming that I've followed. She swam an fabulous time, 20.45, a full half-second faster than the 2nd fastest (whom she was chasing). SwimSwam article doesn't mention an injury.

The prelims for tonight have started
In the 200 backstroke Stanford qualifies three at 2-4-6. Cal at 16 will be in the Race

Cal goes 4th (Weitzeil) 6th and 16th on the 100 free. Big that Weitzeil made the A, and is racing at all, but we will see how she does in the final, she was 1st on the Psych sheet. We qualified at 15th which was big for Fackenthal, who was 43rd on the psych sheet. We also have the top alternate.
