It is being reported that Apple is going to be announcing how it will be killing cable TV and becoming the biggest distributor of journalism on the planet on Monday. Specifically, it will be introducing a premium news subscription that gives access to hundreds of newspapers and magazines that charge individually. And it will also be getting into the TV and content business by being a distributor for that as well.
Putting all this aside, I'm wondering if the Pac-12 can cut a deal to get in on Apple's massive gravitational pull to distribute the Pac-12 Network? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
My core belief is the Pac-12 has to do things way different than the Big Ten and SEC if it wants to be competitive. The selling 10% of the Pac-12's rights to an equity partner is one such potential avenue. A deal with Apple might be another?
