I can't believe FSU's salty old coach left the freshman Larkin in after he gave up the home run.   He was clearly rattled and threw a number of really bad scuds and walked the bases loaded.   What was the issue that the FSU coach had with Gretch?   He had the ump go out to the mound to check on something?   

Clearly a fun game to watch out at Sunken tonight with the ball carrying into the left field trees a number of times.   I was behind home plate with my youngest son and some of the FSU fans were pretty brutal.   

Great win by the Cardinal!

Throwing on three days rest is not the end of someone’s baseball career. After throwing 100 pitches, a 19  year old can throw up to 60 pitches on three days rest. Beck only threw 36 pitches. So it’s safe to unclutch those pearls.

Now I can’t wait for Hulk’s Super Regional breakdown! Beating an SEC team in their yard would seem to be a giant accomplishment.

For those who may know, what's the difference between a softball pitcher and a baseball pitcher? I constantly see softball pitchers pitch in back to back (to back) days, both games of a double-header, etc. UCLA is going to win the championship, in part, to one great pitcher, Garcia, who seems to pitch every inning that they play.

So, why can softball pitchers go game after game while baseball pitchers spring worries about their arms if they are asked to pitch 3 days after pitching 100 pitches?

Throwing overhand puts significantly more stress on more delicate muscles and tendons than throwing underhand does. Physiologically, throwing a Baseball overhand as hard as you can is one of the dumbest things humans have invented.  It's not only the pushing forward motion, but the stopping motion that stresses soft tissues.  Then, when you couple that with twisting the arm to spin the ball, it's even worse.  

The Softball pitch upward motion doesn't allow for as much velocity as overhand throwing, but because the arm finishes the throw in a much more natural upward motion, it puts much less stress on the arm and shoulder. That said, it's not particularly smart for even Softball pitchers to throw so much. Eventually overuse will take a toll in both sports.  It's just Baseballs put much more stress on arms and the overhand motion is more physically taxing.

As an old former softball coach that was excellent outsider. Although their is some wrist twisting
