Why Stanford will lose to USC

He was pretty much exactly right. I'd rather have this board populated with realists than a bunch of blind homers. Coming into this year we didn't have very high expectations, and that's turned out to be pretty justified.
Based on the game I saw last night, SC was simply the more talented team than us. I had thought OF's original post dealt more with
a lack of execution (and that we would basically lose in spite of our talent). The game I saw was SC simply were more talented and faster
and overwhelmed us. So while OF predicted the outcome correctly, I don't think he got the "how" we would lose right. We would have lost
even with Costello yesterday. I didn't see a whole lot of offensive gaffes like in the SDSU game (we moved the ball well, missed some throws for more points,
and the holding was not good at all on the two missed FG). We did a bit of blitzing in the second half, sending corner blitzes with Adebo, and with the exception
of the first three and out of the second half, that didn't make much of a difference.
IMO, SC won because they maximized on their five star talent last night, and even though we have gotten more talented players in recent years, at key position matchups, mainly corners (except Adebo) and safetys against their WR's, their WR's won with speed and talent.

It was a tough game to watch because it was a combination of the fact that it validated many of worries about the lineup that had seemed to have been answered against Northwestern and the fact that USC played lights out with a young team; now I have to worry about the prospect that SC will play to its potential again.
I hope this was the case that SC was a really good team that was particularly capable of exploiting our defensive weaknesses coupled with a back-up QB who was rusty after two years of injury. But I do have to say that I am worried that there are systemic issues with this team and I am bracing myself for the worst season of the Shaw tenure and maybe even a losing season.
I’d forgotten how much losing sucks.
