WBB: Other Pac12 - USC defeats UCLA 2OTs

Ucla played without Onuynwere (minor injury)
Anyone see the game? I see it was tied 51-51 at the end of regulation--must have been a defensive slugfest. UCLA scored only 2 points in the 2nd quarter. In fact, the game recap says they did not score a basket for the last 15 minutes of the first half--just a couple of free throws. Then they scored 24 in the 3rd. A wild game, apparently.

I watched starting in the 3rd.
Yes, loads of defense. $C was clicking, though. Odd reffing. Teams went from getting called for things one would expect, then in late 4th and in OT, never blew their whistles when several were beating up on each other, but quickly blew them when just one player would foul another.
Not really liking Mark Trakh redux. I don't really like the super-aggressive style of play, nor the flopping.
Surprisingly good-sized crowd, too, at least from what I could see. Loads of Bruins fans, and what appeared to be a shocking number of $C students.

Glad to hear their attendance is improving. Years ago I was in LA and realized we were playing $C that afternoon. This was Powell’s senior year when she was unstoppable. I bought tickets online and rushed over to Galen. There were maybe 200 people in the building and more than half were ticket takers, concessionaires and the $C band. And of course the usher wouldn’t let me move to a better seat.

Yeah, last season I went to our game at Galen. Got a courtside seat for $10 or $15. Fairly good Stanford representation, but still probably no more than 300 folks there.

Oregon's five starters were a combined 37/51 (an unreal 72.5% shooting percentage) for 94 of the Ducks' 105 points. UConn-like numbers when they had Stewart, Tuck, Jefferson, etc. You can't double team anyone because you are leaving a lethal player open to shoot.
Hopefully, with the recruiting classes Tara is getting, we can achieve those types of numbers sooner than later.
