Bummer. Ibuprofen was my go to choice for pain. Allergic to naproxen. Thank heaven I've got a ton of hydrocodone / acetaminophen in the medicine cabinet that I've never used.

Bummer. Ibuprofen was my go to choice for pain. Allergic to naproxen. Thank heaven I've got a ton of hydrocodone / acetaminophen in the medicine cabinet that I've never used.

Careful with the acetaminophen. It's my understanding that acetaminophen reaches toxicity rather quickly if you take more than the recommended dose. You cannot take as many pills as you may be used to if you are a heavy user of ibuprofen.

I've used them together instead of taking hydrocodone or another opiate. It's a good possibility to know about.

But I think 82 was talking about switching from Ibuprofen to Tylenol, not using them together. If one does that, it's best to beware of the differences.

Yes. I was talking about switching. I was concerned about someone trying with acetaminophen doses they may have gotten away with using ibuprofen.

I agree that, for a few days, a mixture of ibuprofen and acetaminophen is extremely effective. Years ago that's all they gave me for after a root canal. I believe the dose was 2 Tylenol and 3 Advil. Surprisingly effective. Check with your doctor. I am not a doctor. I'm only relaying my personal experience under professional supervision.

WHO is indeed still looking into this, but I assume their recommendation at this point is more of a just in case it's true, sort of thing.
