Totally agree about the commitment video. Probably my all-time favorite. You have to love this kid and I certainly will be rooting hard for him, on and off the court.
Welcome Ryan and family!

I noticed in the video that he was wearing Stanford jersey #23 - Casey Jacobsen's number. If he can have a career like CJ (another 6' 7" shooter), Stanford should do well.
Agarwal comes from Coppell High which has become a pipeline for Stanford athletics recently - Solomon Thomas and Jonathan McGill (football), Chioma Ubogagu (women's soccer), Jonathan Kaskow (baseball).

Makes me wonder which schools have been the biggest pipelines to Stanford. My own high school (Torrey Pines) in San Diego has given us Catarina Macario, John Lynch, Chad Hutchinson, Brandon Angel, Rachel Van Hollebeke (Soccer), Alli Billmeyer (Track & Field), and I am sure I am missing some.

Ryan's announcement video . . . Simply perfect.
Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip.
Terrific video. I remember another Ryan from Texas who did ok:) on the Farm. Undervalued, though I think he held the Texas scoring record when he committed to us. And, he was a scoring monster and a total joy to watch on the court. Yo, Mendez.

I wanna say that Mendy average 38 and 18 his senior year, or something ridiculous like that. I remember reading that high school stat line in the SF Chronicle story about his signing and thinking, "what happens when you cross Michael Jordan with Dennis Rodman? You get Ryan Mendez!"

Brick city is correct; here is the Palo Alto online from when Mendez committed.

Quote:The 6-foot-7, 195-pound Mendez carried Burleson High School (Texas) team by averaging more than 38 points per game his senior season. His driving style of play and consistent scoring--he averaged 30 points a game for his career--attracted the attention of top basketball programs from across the country, including North Carolina.

At least in years they don't win the national championship, those peanut galleries don't take a back seat to any.

It is good to see interest from transfers, and he would be a great fit. But one specific part of this comment makes me think we are not in the running here.

Wright is a 6'9" mega-whale and primary target in '22.
What does Haase continue telling elite recruits after proving he can't win with them or improve their draft position?

Whales don't need to "improve their draft position." They already have one and just go through the motions for a year.
3 draftees in 3 straight years. One of whom was never supposed to be an NBA-caliber talent (Terry), and one of whom was only offered by Stanford in HS (Okpala).
What is UConn telling their MBB recruits? They signed 3 Isa Silva-level recruits and 2 more the year before. They made the tournament ONCE in the last 5 seasons (this past one, in which they lost in the first round) and have had zero players drafted in that span.
Nebraska signed a whale and they are horrible. (He's from South Carolina. No connection to the program.)
