Looks like Tuscaloosa is having a tough time holding COVID cases down.
Appears as if the local officials are concerned that the University of Alabama may need to close. I does not appear that there is any concern, at this time, that the outbreak could impact the football season. The concern is related to the hospital system strain or the economic impact of a potential campus closure.
Which is kind of odd to me. I would think the public messaging could be more meaningful if they implied the football team may need to stop playing if the outbreak does not slow, or at least that the 20,000 people they plan to attend the football games would not be allowed to watch in the stadium.
Guess it will take a lot more COVID related economic ruin together with COVID cases, hospitalization and death before they consider stopping football activities.
