The Niners Defense against the Rams last year:
Bosa, Buckner, Armstead, Ford, Alexander, Warner, Greenlaw, Sherman, Witherspoon, Tarth, and Ward.
Now gone: Bosa, Buckner, Ford, Alexander, Sherman.
Would love to see the Rams without just Aaron Donald and Jaylen Ramsey.
Yeah, it's hard to envision anything but an ass-whooping administered by the Rams.
McVay is still a good coach, and they were coming on strong at the end of last season.
The 'Niners could easily have a couple more Ws this season (or at least one). Shanahan loves his passing game just a little too much, imo, though it's easy to see why when certain plays open up so beautifully.
But this Sunday, it won't matter whether he runs a lot or passes a lot. The Rams are going to abuse the 'Niners defense.
When you posted your comments, you obviously forgot who plays QB for the Rams. The guy simply can’t handle the pressure of playing in “national” games.
It was an excellent W for the 'Niners, and as a fan, I'm happy.
And Shanahan's play calling was brilliant, especially early (but really, throughout). I particularly liked the run on 3rd and 5 when he knew he was in no-man's land and intended to go for it on fourth down. The run gained 3 yards, opening up all kinds of possibilities for 4th down. It just so happened that the play to Kittle was a House Call after he got by the one defender as the ball arrived. Literally for years, I've been asking for someone on the Stanford football sideline to have that kind of "forward thinking" - which to be honest, is so freaking basic it's embarrassing that our coach has exemplified an inability to grasp it on so many occasions.
Shifting sports, congrats to the Dodgers. I don't like them, but they are a deserving NL representative (as would have the Braves). But the reason why I'm commenting on that game is because of managing. Did you all notice how Roberts stuck with Urias for 3 innings to finish the game because he was pitching well? Another thing that is so basic, yet so many managers knee-jerkedly call in the closer for the ninth. Congrats for making the right call, skipper.
P.S. The Rams could have easily won the game if not for a bad drop in the end zone and then a pick in the end zone on another drive. I also have no idea why the Rams didn't continue to run the ball more on the 'Niners. From what I saw (and admittedly, I was jumping back and forth to MLB game), the Rams were very effective on the ground - especially between the tackles.
